The Farm Stand Mercantile & Grocery makes it easier for farmers to sell their products and for customers to find high-quality, local goods. As a small cattle rancher and beekeeper, I know the challenges farmers face in selling at markets and the inconvenience for customers searching for fresh, local food. That’s why we bring everything together in one place, including meats, dairy products, fresh produce, baked goods, jams, and household essentials. We provide a reliable market for farmers and a convenient shopping experience for customers, which keeps local food accessible and sustainable. The Farm Stand has a simple mission: make it convenient and profitable for our vendors to sell and simple for our consumers to get the local and single-origin products they need. My hope is that it becomes a trusted grocery store where families can get the highest quality products while supporting small farms and local agriculture.

Why we got started

My Inspiration: Farming, Faith, and Community

I grew up with a huge garden, learning to can and preserve food alongside my family. We always supported local farmers by buying fresh, homegrown products. As a kid, I loved visiting farmers’ markets and dreamed of one day having a farm of my own.

Today, as a small cattle rancher and beekeeper, I’m honored to be part of North Carolina’s agricultural community and to serve both farmers and families through The Farm Stand Mercantile & Grocery. My finance Seth’s love of raising animals and my passion for community and fresh products have made us the perfect business duo. We love running a business that allows others to experience the same products we love.

I believe that the quality of the food we eat, the medicines we take, and the products we use are all part of caring for the bodies God has given us. The Bible teaches that our bodies are temples, and we should glorify God in how we care for them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). That belief, combined with my love for farming, led me to create The Farm Stand, a place where people can find natural, single-origin products, mostly from local farmers and producers.

I was super excited to learn more about The Farm Stand,  because I had not seen anything like this offered in my community before. The grand opening of The Farm Stand was nothing short of amazing! There were so many great products and it was so neat getting to meet all the small business owners and hear a little bit about their businesses and stories! Walking around, I could tell that a lot of love, passion and attention went into each product. I was beyond pleased with the products I purchased that day and have since met up with Bethany a couple of times to get more products! I purchased the most beautiful flowers and the yummiest cheese to name a couple of things I picked up that day. After talking with Bethany afterwards, it was clear to me how much passion she has for bringing our community together through her love of farm fresh products and homemade items. I am so thrilled to have found The Farm Stand and that Bethany and I crossed paths! I admire the work she is doing through The Farm Stand and I am so excited to finally have access to farm fresh and local products! I am a huge believer in supporting and shopping small! I cannot wait to see all the amazing things that will be coming to The Farm Stand and will continue to shop The Farm Stand any chance I get!”

I love that I am able to see the product and meet the farmer that made it. Everyone is so nice, helpful, and encouraging. Support local and know where your stuff is coming from. & be thankful to the one who makes it all happen, Jesus."

"I had the pleasure of attending the Farm Stand Grand Opening!!! I left with a bounty of local meats, natural body products, several salves, wound care spray and fresh grape jelly! I was also eyeing the beautiful flowers, handmade jewelry and baked goods on the beautiful tables! I’m loving my tooth powder and salves, the soap is gentle with a good lather and soothing scent, the jelly is delicious and my kids loved the sausage we had the other night! We are looking forward to the first cookout of the season with the local grassfed beef I bought! Not only are all the goods/products I bought fantastic quality but I was able to talk to the people who made/raised them! There is great peace of mind and connection when you can talk to those who produce what you consume! For these women and their families providing their healthy, homemade, homegrown, natural, from the earth products is a gift they are giving to our community and they do it with love and purpose! My only regret is that I didn’t grab a pair of cow earrings but I plan to next time!!!"

It's a well-organized event with so many vendors local to Rockingham County with everything from honey, great beef, delicious baked goods, homemade crafts and so much more. I even had a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade while I shopped. Everyone was helpful and worked to assist others. Check out this small based business and help support our community rather than shopping the stores if you can. You'll be pleased."

"My family and I visited the farm stand during the morning of its Grand Opening! We waited weeks in anticipation and it did not disappoint. We bought a loaf delicious sour dough bread, and lemon blueberry bread from Dang Delicious. Two packs of cheese from Ashe County Cheese! I made the BEST grilled cheese with our sour dough and cheese! Our breakfast that morning came from Three Sisters Farm! Her cinnamon rolls put Cinnabon to shame! They were fantastic. Samuel had his eye on sprinkled cake pops from Weezys and he ate all four himself. My favorite purchase that morning was the Whipped Honey from Greenwood Farms, it has been the best addition to my morning coffee! Each vendor puts in so much hard work and dedication in their products and it is so amazing how Bethany Martin pulled this amazing event together!"
